Well so much for a friday afternoon tradition .. but how about a nice sunday afternoon. The sun is shining and I am chilling on the hatches back porch in alexandria drinking some lemonade ... and its like 75 degrees out. hell yes to spring. things are def starting to pick up in the city plus i have soccer ball on sats now and weeknights and sundays here pretty quick too. busy busy. Too bad everyday isnt as chill as a sunday ... wake up and drink a bunch of coffee, read, write, relax. Walk the dog, enjoy the fresh air. maybe a good career alternative would be dog walker. or house sitter. I dunno I guess for now I will just have to enjoy the random slow moments on the weekend and take them for what they are. nice biking weather too ... hopefully get some road time in this week along with 3-4 more good runs ... killed a solid 15 miler last week in 2 hrs. no sweat im actually getting excited for the marathon, masocistic as that may be. I am looking forward to the push and the heavy legs, burning lungs and swirling brain. well see how my opinion changes post run i guess. currently i think a nice porch nap is calling my name and it would be silly to say no.
until next time ... enjoy the spring. and go to themountainculture.com and check out the skid pad videos ... a true ode to the ski bum

What up what up ...

Maybe I will make this a Friday afternoon tradition ... right about the time when my brain starts to sieze up and I lose all desire to do any more work ... so now. Well at least spring is right around the corner, at least technically starting today. It is kinda sunny and warmish. Now that there is no snow and the hope of any more knee deep pow pow turns has faded I am eager for more daylight, more sunshine, and weather more condusive to being outside.
At least it looks like a busy rest of today, filled with non-work related things. Trying to slip out for a run about 4 and hoping this IT band syndrome is only that and my p.o.s. knee remains somewhat pain-free. Then a little worky worky happy hour to get some drinks in, and a dinner date after that. And it is Friday which means I can sleep until at least 9 tomorrow ... can't wait.

Listening to Bruce Springsteen's My Hometown on repeat at the moment randomly. Managed to pass up buying useless clothing for next to nothing since the office bldg next door had their parking lot sale today.

I have decided I need to be more zen. Not really sure how to accomplish this though. Gotta find a way to not get so stressed over stuff like work, all the overlapping projects and bureaucratic b.s. Maybe I need to do more yoga or like meditate or something. Calm myself the fuh down. Might also help if I did not drink 3 cups of coffee in the am, although I have done a decent job of keeping it to one most days (today is clearly NOT one of those days). Alas I digress but isn't that what this silly thing is for anyway?
Well unfortunately my little slip into the freedom zone has ended and I have to get back to work if I am gonna squeeze a run in. 6 more weeks until that life lister can be ticked off. Lidar designing beckons ...

Until next time...

First Post!

Hey everybody so this will serve as my first post on this here blog. I guess I am going to use this blog to update my friends and family all over the country as to my current activities, grumblings, etc. etc. So here we go ...

Today is Friday March 13 2009... I am stuck in my office on a gloomy day after another early start. Its funny how you can convince yourself that if you arrive at 7am you will be able to leave by 4pm, but you find yourself still working away at 6. Well at least today I am going to get out of here by 3 based on the 11 hr day I had yesterday plus ... I NEED TO RUN! The Pittsburgh marathon is in like 7 weeks and I am still only at 13-14 miles for my longest run. Gotta kick it into gear asap. If only the whole day wasn't taken up with work. Well anyway I will try to get this bloggy really going in the next couple weeks - to get some pics up via picasa and the like so that everyone can have the scoop as it happens.

Plus I am so still in the vaca mode after being at Big Sky over the past weekendish. And while the quad pounding of my tele adventures are bueno, I doubt they will suffice come mile 18 of my first marathon. So with that I will conclude this little tidbit and start to wrap up my work day ...

Until next time ... ciao, namaste, and um ... drink cold beer. especially pbr.
